The Marie A. Dornhecker Foundation

The Marie A. Dornhecker Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, private operating foundation. This Foundation was created and is primarily funded by, the Estate of the late Marie A. Dornhecker. Our goal and purpose is to provide educational scholarships and programs that foster and encourage an interest in the French language and culture and the impact they have had on the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Marie A. Dornhecker Foundation is offering scholarships for the purpose of promoting the study of the French language and culture in Virginia. Applications are currently being accepted and will be considered for one of up to twenty (20) two thousand dollar ($2,000.00) grants to be awarded for the upcoming academic year. Applicants must be Virginia residents having a permanent address within the Hampton Roads area, and are either graduating high school seniors entering an accredited college or university in Fall, 2012, or current full-time students enrolled and registered in an accredited college or university. Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s past academic performance, financial need, and the ability to communicate through a scholarly essay to be submitted with the application. All applications must be complete and must be received by the Foundation no later than August 6, 2012 to be considered for this year’s awards.

Prior to making awards the Foundation reserves the right to withdraw any scholarship offer at any time, in whole or in part, at its sole and absolute discretion.
